Estimation and Correction of Geolocation Errors of the CFOSAT Scatterometer Using Coastline Backscatter Coefficients

The scatterometer onboard the China-France Oceanography Satellite (CFOSAT) is first rotating fan beam (CSCAT) in operation. It used to measure ocean surface wind fields over a large observation swath. Geolocation an important part of preprocessing data. accuracy geolocation has impact on field retrieval. necessary estimate and analyze processing CSCAT. challenge understanding how errors In this study, coastline inflection method CSCAT based distribution characteristics backscatter coefficients at both land. points are obtained using gradient changes near coastline. locations these line with trend high-precision estimated by comparing results show that current about 7.31 km, which meets requirements 25 × km addition, because data affected terrain, corrected elevation correction algorithm digital model verify effectiveness algorithm.
